NPC Player Template

How To Use

There are two different views for the players - the gallery and the table view - the third one is just for the DM. All views essentially contain the same information but by using the filter, the DM controls which NPCs appear in the gallery and table view.

Each view is sorted alphabetically; the player views are also filtered so that only the NPCs with a checkmark in the “visible” field appear in those views. The DM view has a full list of NPCs; the DM can tell at a glance which NPCs the party can or can’t see.

Technically, the players would have access to the DM view; I’m simply trusting my party that they won’t use it - and even if they do, it’s not like they’re getting an awful lot of information out of it. It’s literally just pictures and names.

From either view, players can access the expanded page of each NPC. Here, they could, out of curiosity or just on accident, uncheck the “visible” box. The NPC will then disappear from the player views and you have to put the checkmark back in.

The expanded view currently does not contain any additional information that isn’t already in the table view, other than the “visible” property.

If you want to make a property visible in the gallery view or hide it in the table view, simply click the three dots next to “New”, select “Properties” and then click the eye next to any properties you wish to hide/make visible. This change only applies the view you’ve currently selected.

Once you’re done reading and feel like you don’t need the information presented to refer back to, simply move the NPC template at the top of the page to Player Resources and delete this page.

Gallery View

Self-explanatory, I suppose. The picture of the NPC and their name.

Personally, I prefer this one over the table view, simple because it’s more pleasant to look at than a list of names.

If you should need to add new NPCs, simply add a cover (you can either upload images or use a link) and adjust the position as needed.

This one is quite handy if players want to edit multiple NPCs in one go.

I’ve already added several options to choose from but none of the factions yet. For my game, none of my players had any reason to know that Bregan D’aerthe even exists so I wouldn’t have wanted them to see Bregan D’aerthe could be selected as a faction. Players can easily add new options to the select/multi select options though.

To link one NPC to another, simply type +Name and choose the appropriate character from Notion’s suggestions.

DM View

This is really simplistic. It’s a list of all of the NPCs in Dragon Heist. No matter which season you’re running, you should find absolutely everyone in this list, from the major villains down to the most minor characters that are only referenced in passing, plus some potential employees as provided by the Alexandrian Remix.

Simply check the box next to the NPC you want to show to your players and they will appear in both the gallery and the table view.
